Getting your GP involved

So you have decide to control your weight, now it’s time to figure out how you can loose this extra weight you have been carrying. Loosing weight is not as much as difficult as it looks to follow by reading more and more but remember one thing once it’s done you will feel better. But do be careful because loosing weight is not about left eating food, fasting or dieting. Research suggests that losing 1/2 to 2 pounds a week by eating better and exercising more is the best way to lose weight and keep it off. By improving your diet and exercise habits, you will develop a healthier lifestyle and can control your weight.
Visiting doctor is very important because he/she will properly check your health and will give you better idea on loosing weight. Sometimes certain conditions can limit your exercise capabilities. And it is better to know about the conditions before it’s too late. Before following any instruction regarding loosing weight or undertaking any weight-loosing program you need to be properly fit for that. Loosing weight by dieting or fasting does not help you effectively except causing bad effects externally or internally. Talk to your doctor about healthy eating and physical activities that can help you loosing weight, improve your fitness and decrease the chances of developing heart disease, high blood pressure or diabetes etc.

Talking to your doctor about your desire loosing weight may be difficult, but if you know your physician very well then you should be comfortable. If you are overweight so might be possible that your doctor has already talked about this issue in the past. So forget embarrassment and tell your doctor how you feel and what you want to achieve. Although a doctor is not a fitness advisor, he or she can recommend a starting point for you or may send you to see a nutrition specialist if he or she feels necessary to do so.

Usually calories cause to put on weight because your body needs a certain amount of calories and nutrients each day in order to work properly and if you take it more than your body requirements so it converted into fat. But you better ask your doctor if there are other factors that are causing to extra weight.

Ask your doctor the following questions when you visit:

- How much weight do I need to lose?
- What is my optimum weight for my height, age and body type?
- Will any existing medications I am on affect my fitness and diet?
- Are there any
risks in my exercising?
- Am I overweight due to health conditions?
- Am I at a higher risk of contracting health complications due to my weight?
- Are there any foods I should avoid while I diet?
Your doctor may also ask few questions like:

How much food do you take?
Which type of job do you have?
What is your daily routine?
What do you like to eat in food?
Do you take heavy food or light food?

Your doctor will analyze your daily routine and your food by asking these types of questions in order to give you better advice for loosing weight. But remember one thing once you start medication or any courses never discontinue it before fulfilling time period or your doctor’s approval because sometimes people discontinue their courses or medication when they feel bit better and any improvement.
